Dinosaur Lovie Pattern

This is one of the first patterns we put together, it’s kind off a play on a tag blanket but in the shape of a Dinosaur. One of my favorite parts of this lovie is that you can do the spikes in different colors and textures use denim or corduroy, and add something soft like chenille or velvet.

Creativ Festival

We did it! The spring 2011 Creativ Festival is over and we had a great time at the show. We introduced a bunch of new kits and the response from people was great! It was a lot of fun meeting the other exhibitors and chatting about crafts and sewing all weekend.

Now that the show is done it has free up some time and I’m going to put together some tutorials to post on the blog soon.

It was a crazy weekend but a lot of fun and we are looking forward to the next show!

Fabric Friday

Fabric Friday

It’s Friday again!

This week I want to post about Minky. It’s super soft and cuddly and is 100% washable. Minky can be a bit tricky to sew with since it’s so stretchy but if you use lots of pins and have some patience it’s well worth the extra work.

We use it for the backs of tag blankets and we’ve even started making rag quilts with it!

It’s friday again!

So, my favourite fabric this week, has to be by Michael Miller. These fabrics are from his Peace Collection, and I think it would make an adorable quilt for any little girl. Flowers, and butterflies, and bright, fun colours! I think my 3 year old niece would just love this set!

Elephant Plushie PDF EPattern

Elephant Plushie PDF EPattern

We finally finished our first plushie EPattern. This elephant is sooo cute! You can make an entire family of elephants if you want.

And, you can experiment with different fabrics for the ears, to give it more contrast. Minky fabric would be awesome for the ears, because it would make it super soft and cuddly. But, even denim would be interesting. Or Flannel.  Anything to add contrast!

It’s time for Fabric Friday! Today was exciting because we received 4 boxes of fabric. There were so many bolts to look at it was like Christmas… a fabric Christmas (imagine how great a fabric Christmas would be!)

We received a bunch of flannel and a lot of Michael Miller prints. It’s really hard to choose my favourite from the shipment but I really really like the Zoology in Lagoon and the co-ordinating pieces that go with it. The colours are super bright and I think these will make the cutest quilts.

It’s that time again. Fabric Friday!

This week, my favourite fabrics have been from the Jungle Baby Collection by Kate Honarver for Timeless Treasures. This set is so bright and colourful, that it would be perfect for a little boy or girl! I just love the adorable giraffe. (Although I’m not sure why he’s red!!)

I think this would make an adorable quilt, or pair 2 fabrics together to make oversized receiving blankets!

DIY Kits

DIY Kits

We’ve started selling our DIY kits, so far we have Tag Blanket Kits and Fabric Baby Blocks. Our Tag Blanket Kits come with a fat quarter and enough Minky for the back. We also include all the ribbons needed and directions to complete the project.

For the fabric blocks we include enough pre-cut squares to make 3 baby blocks. Plus directions of course!

We are so excited to offer DIY kits because we know everyone will love to make these items themselves either to keep or give to someone special.

I though that a fun thing to do each friday would be to post one of our favourite fabrics or fabric collections. Right now I really like Zoologie by Ann Kelle for Kaufman. I love the Owls especially the sleepy looking owl 🙂

I think this combo would make an awesome baby quilt that is gender neutral. I haven’t made anything with it yet because I can’t decide what to start with!
